City Center Lehigh Valley Announces First Tenant For Planned One City Center Office And Retail Building

Legal Firm Davison & McCarthy, P.C., First to Claim Space in $50 Million Class A Office Building Due to Open Near Allentown Arena Around September 2013

Center Lehigh Valley, a major mixed-use development in downtown Allentown, Pa., announced today that the legal firm of Davison & McCarthy, P.C., is the first company that will become a tenant of One City Center, the $50 million Class A office it will soon construct on 7th Street between Hamilton and Walnut Streets. The announcement was made by Jim Harbaugh, executive vice president and COO of City Center Lehigh Valley.

Davison & McCarthy will occupy up to 10,000 square feet of the five-story, 200,000-square-foot office and retail building that will include a 570-space underground parking garage. The firm’s 13 employees will be among up to 700-plus workers who could occupy One City Center at its opening near September 2013, around the date Allentown’s arena at 7th and Hamilton streets is scheduled to start serving as home to the Phantoms, the Philadelphia Flyers’ top minor league affiliate.

Reilly, who has owned the property for the One City Center building since 1999. With plans for future phases, City Center Investment Corp. bought several properties near the arena site in 2011, using a $20 million credit line provided by the Allentown Commercial Industrial Development Authority, which, through Neighborhood Improvement Zone legislation, will be at least partially retired using state and local taxes paid by City Center tenants.

Johnson said in a reaction that his goal was to bring down all Atlantic Casinos and show people that the Atlantic City Assassin was no man to mess with. He said he was certain he’d be back sometime soon, so he recommended everyone to keep an eye on blackjack news. Johnson appeared to be very confident, but that’s quite normal when you with over $17 million in a year playing blackjack.

Johnson’s winning adventure started in December 2010, when he beat Tropicana Casino, Borgata Casino and Tropicana Casino for a grand total of $15.1 million. Including the $2 million he won in October 2011 the grand total is $17.1 million.

Meanwhile, Jonson’s success has made people start a discussion on whether high stakes blackjack is actually a good thing for casinos. Since all Atlantic Casinos offer high stakes blackjack, their short term risk of losing money is higher than that of normal casinos.
All casinos make use of a long term strategy, i.e. the house odds are better but not that much better. If you play a few games, you might win them all. If you play thousands of games it’s highly unlikely you will win more than the casino. In high stakes games, this is a bit more dangerous though.

Because the volume of games is lower, it’s harder for casinos to get to play a very high number of hands and thus they can’t make sure they win. Many people believe the casinos are taking a huge risk, so players like Johnson have a good chance to win money if they hit a lucky streak.

Blackjack experts at Ace Ten think it’s not a problem though; the casinos should have enough reserves to cover the losses. And if they do, it’s just a matter of time. In the long run enough games will be played and statistics should be on their side, unless someone has truly managed to beat the system.

- Start or join an a cappella group.
- Student recitals. If you are taking lessons with a voice coach or at a music school, there are probably performance opportunities through there. They may not be the rock-star performance situations you ultimately envision yourself in, but they’re valuable stage time nonetheless.
- Start a duo. Team up with a pianist, develop a repertoire, and start playing in restaurants and bars.
- Start a band. Easiest if you are a teen or twenty-something, before your peers have real jobs, kids, and mortgages.
- Hire a band. For those with deep pockets: if you’re willing to pay for a professional band’s rehearsal time, even a novice could start a rock trio and play standard covers in bars.
- Try out for a role in a musical theater production.
- Join a choir. There are lots of community choirs - some are open to all ages and levels, others require auditions.
- Prepare yourself to sub in a party band. Even if you don’t win an audition to be a party band’s new lead singer, they may find themselves in a tight spot one day if their lead singer gets sick. If you prepare a standard party repertoire, you’ll be ready to step in if and when a last-minute opportunity arises."
