The I International Media Forum Fourth Estate Will Be Held in Strasbourg in February

International Media Congress “Golden Section” holds I International Media Forum “The Fourth Estate” at the Palais des Congrès (Strasbourg, France) on February 19 -23, 2012

Forum is supported by the Council of Europe, UNESCO, the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Union of Journalists of Moscow. Forum is also supported by the leading global media, various government structures of Russia, CIS and other countries.

Not accidentally Strasbourg was chosen as the venue for the Forum. Saturated by the spirit of international law, freedom and openness, the Forum participants - journalists, public figures, scientists, artists and businessmen can be involved in open dialogue with each other. Exchange of international experience, analysis of the problems in each state, attempts to address serious issues of civil society - all this will be the subject of vivid and emotional debate.

Program of the International Media Forum “Fourth estate” includes a wide range of issues of concern to the international community and receiving considerable attention, thanks to the media: the impact of media on the international climate, public opinion on the basis of tolerance, dialogue of cultures of different nations, demographic problems of modern society, the problem of preservation of small ethnic groups, cultures and traditions, and environmental security in the world and the media's role in its provision - these are just some of the topics to be discussed in Strasbourg (a full list is specified in the Program of the Forum).

In addition, the Forum will raise issues of legal protection of journalists and the problem of its safety.

The Forum will be attended by prominent journalists, political scientists, major public figures.

Energos, which is gasification technology partner to BioGen Power and already had a 28% shareholding in the business, has released shares to the former BioGen Power owners as part of the reciprocal agreement.

This brings together a joint portfolio of six fully consented UK sites, with a total generating capacity of 60MW and waste treatment capacity of 650,000 tonnes, plus additional sites in the development pipeline.

In addition, the seven previously developed Energos gasification from waste facilities across Northern Europe, have a combined operating experience of almost 500,000 hours over a 15-year period.

Energos expects to start construction on two of its six approved sites in 20 12, with the remaining sites in the following two years. The consented sites are at: Knowsley, Merseyside; Irvine, Scotland; Newport, South Wales; Barry, South Wales; Doncaster, Yorkshire; and Bradford, Yorkshire. BioGen Power has closed its Blackpool office, with staff relocating to Energos' headquarters in Warrington, Cheshire.

Energos’ patented gasification technology is an advanced thermal treatment process that converts residual, non-recyclable waste into a gas by using the heat of partial combustion to free hydrogen and carbon in the waste.

Residual waste is fed into the gasification chamber, where it is converted into a syngas. This syngas is then transferred to a secondary oxidation chamber where it is mixed with air and recycled flue gas under tightly controlled conditions that ensures complete and efficient combustion resulting in reduced emissions in the flue gases. The upshot is ultra-low emissions, with the resulting heat recovered to produce steam and/or electricity.

A typical plant can generate 9MWe of renewable power from a variety of waste streams. This would equate to the output of 15 large wind turbines. The facilities are compact, with a building height of around 18m that does not dominate the skyline.
